Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations show the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for details.
An important official stated the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be addressed promptly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
